Canal House Station - Milford

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It has impressed us not just once, but twice! The food is top-notch, clearly made with care and skill. The ambiance and meticulous attention to detail make the experience truly special. What truly sets this place apart is the exceptional staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We are already planning our next trip from NYC to visit again!

We had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately the service was slower than anticipated. There were long waits between courses and we had to skip one entirely, yet it still took 2.5 hours. The restaurant is lovely and the staff are friendly. We hope that this was not a typical experience and we are willing to give it another try.

This restaurant is a perfect 10 in every way! From the moment we entered until the moment we left, our experience was amazing.

The restaurant is beautiful in a simple farmhouse way and the servers were kind. We had a 4:30 reservation on a Sunday for their Sunday dinner fixed menu. Though we typically wouldn't have ordered Paella as a main course it was very good. All of the food was fresh and prepared carefully. Our biggest disappointment was the time between the mostly small courses, which averaged about 30 minutes. I'm all about taking time to savor excellent food but I don't need 30 minutes to eat literally 4 leaves of lettuce and 5 olives. The length of time between courses was simply too long for our taste and we won't be back.

We sat in the garden on a very warm summer evening; our dinner was accompanied by visiting yellow jackets, which hovered about the whole evening, bumping up against us from time to time and coveting our steamed mussels. Although we, undoubtedly, could have moved inside, we opted to sit out with the apple and fig trees and despite the yellow jackets, we enjoyed the ambience of the garden. As always, the subtle complexity of flavors from the first course to the last was delicious, and everything was thoughtfully prepared. One of the other diners admitted he has dinner here every Sunday night with his companion and their lovely dog, Ginger, who was so well behaved, we didn't even know she was there until it was time for them to leave. The other guests added an unexpected intimacy that only improved the experience. If you'd like to break the familiar pattern of summer or any Sunday afternoon and explore a new venue, we highly recommend Canal House Station. The chefs are inspired and committed creatives who understand nuance and the impactfulness of something as simple as salt. Stop in and let them surprise your palate and notice the great care the wait staff exhibit as they tend to the details of your afternoon/evening.
