I found it going to a book study with the older ladies at church book club. Brought my Dad and he brought my sister and she raved about the restaurant Dad found. I brought my senior in college and he loved it. Do not miss the bean salad, I sometimes just want to go there for it. I have had their quiche 2 times and was disappointed both times. Their specialty is sandwiches with great bread, cheeses, avocado, and many other. My son is a vegetarian and found lots of choices for sandwiches. Note both of their quiches had meat in them which puzzled us. You definitely can carry in a conversation here. They have white cloth table clothes that they change between customers. It is quaint.
Hidden gem in the Oakwood neighborhood just off downtown Raleigh. Friendly service, great food and a setting from yester-year! Loved it!
I ordered a sandwich which was priced at $11.95. The waitress said it came with a side and I could get soup. When they say it that way you assume it is included. It was a tiny cup of soup which was less than half a cup. I drank water. With tip my lunch ended up being almost $22.00. The cashier just said you pay extra for soup. My friend’s sandwich with that little bit of soup and dessert was almost $29.00. We will never return and will not recommend this place to anyone. It was a rip off.The waitress was very nice, but clearly didn’t tell us the soup would be extra. She said it came as a side with the sandwich.
Sandwiches were tasty but pricey. Staff was friendly. My only complaint is that our waitress shook the bag of chips before handing them to us. It was rude and disrespectful. You do that to a pet before giving them a treat, not a customer person). She may have done it in a playful way, but it was not appreciated. Due to the disrespect,I will not return or recommend.
Side St. Restaurant is the cutest little local sandwich shop in Raleigh! Everything on the menu is great and it’s all fresh and homemade. While the lunch menu is delicious, the desserts are some of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the fudge pie and the black bottom pecan pie. My family and I have been eating here for years and it never disappoints!
