Great little Japanese grill. Cosy atmosphere. Friendly service. We booked in for a 7:30 BBQ session so we could relax and enjoy at our own pace. We were seated upstairs in zashiki style seating with sunken floor (shoes removed) to add to the traditional feel. Food was amazing! Quality. Fresh. Beautifully presented. Lovely service. Thoroughly enjoyed our night and will definitely be back again.
We love Wagyu ya. It has become our go-to place for celebrations and special meals. The excellent service, ambiance and the individual grills built into the dining tables make this a highly unique and memorable dining experience. But the highlight of a visit to Wagyu Ya in undoubtedly the unbelievable, melt-in-your-mouth marbled Wagyu cuts of beef on the menu. Our favorites are the marble 10 short rib, oyster blade, and sirloin options.
Went two nights in a row, with my daughters who normally do not eat much meat, just fantastic service, great atmosphere, and fabulous food. If you are in South Yarra and love excellent Japanese food please go here. You will not be disappointed! Book table upstairs as ground floor can be very busy but eating anywhere there is a pleasure.
A bit pricy but to be fair, food quality is pretty good for Australian standard. Since it advertised itself as Wagyu (Japanese beef), then it's hard not to do a comparison to wagyu in Japan, hence why this is very good for what we can get in Australia, I would very much recommend here. The only drawback but noticeably enough to brother us to what could be a much enjoyable dinning experience is their waiting staff, not that they are unfriendly or anything, but being a Wagyu high-end restaurant for its price tag, their staff really need to be more and well trained. When we asked the difference between meat quality, they can only say the higher the number the better, which...... sounds like just a price difference. Also when we tried to order another set of a beef that we are currently having (pointed to the plate with raw meat still on it), no one seemed to know what kind of beef it's, even by checking our order list they can't be sure. Until a senior looking staff came and made a decision but then again turned out it wasn't what we had......Maybe this sounds a bit picky but by having working-holiday looking staff and untrained in a Wagyu "professional" restaurant really kinda let down the whole experience, we can expect this type of dont care dont know attitude from waiters at food court but not when it's charging you premium price. We went to another same price ranged Spanish restaurant and all waiters knew exactly what kind of food they were serving and could tell us much more to help us to decide, this mattered at end of the day.
