Once they finally came over and set us up with the BBQ cookers, we were given the condiments to start cooking. However, the portion sizes were extremely small and left us feeling unsatisfied, especially when they brought out seafood that consisted of only one prawn and two scallops per cooker. The general consensus around the table was that we would have to stop for pizza on the way home, which most of the guests ended up doing. My wife and I even went to an Indian restaurant nearby to fill the void when we got home. Despite the tasty food, the stingy portions were a major disappointment and did not fill up my 12-year-old son or the adults with me. If I were to offer any advice to this establishment, it would be to 1) add more staff to cater to large bookings and regular clients simultaneously, rather than making customers wait for an hour to order and then wait between small courses, and 2) serve decent portion sizes to avoid customers feeling the need to eat elsewhere afterwards. All customers, whether regular paying ones or those with coupons or vouchers, should be treated equally.
The food at this restaurant is wonderful and the service is good. The soju cocktails by the carafe are dangerously easy to drink. We have tried many dishes and all of them have been great. However, the first time we tried the spicy beef ribs, they were so spicy that they were practically inedible after letting them sit for a while. We learned our lesson and removed half of the dried chillis as soon as the dish was served, resulting in a much more enjoyable meal. We will definitely return next time we are in Melbourne.
The restaurant offers a unique and entertaining experience with grilled and flaming meat. The service was friendly and hospitable, with a young man serving and grilling for us. We enjoyed the Kimchi Arancini tapas, which were crispy rice balls with kimchi and cheese, as well as the Angus beef cooked on a stone grill. The simmered pork belly was a bit bland and fatty. The prices were reasonable with a deal voucher, but the $3 bowl of rice was a bit pricey. Overall, it was a recommended spot for a taste of westernized Korean food, with the must-try kimchi being a highlight.
Don't let the QUIRKY windows and interior fools you, the offering inside is worth the try. A little bit hidden from the normal Melbourne's alley of restaurants, next to Queen Victoria Market, not hard to get a parking spot. Once you can re-focus your eyes from the many bits and pieces, non-matching tables and chairs and the other many things inside that cluttered the restaurant then you can begin to enjoy those delicious food. We've tried 6 tapas, Black Angus beef and Wagyu beef, they are all well presented, unpretentious and delicious. Table cooking by the waiting staff is a bonus, just tell them medium rare or medium for those beef. Very well stock in terms of drinks, wines, beers and all sorts. On top of that, super friendly, warm and enjoyable waiting staff and owner. Will come back for more, kamsa hamida.
Hi All,I went to Table By S for a Korean BBQ on Sunday for my Son-in laws birthday celebration.First impression on walking in the place was that the decor was really nice the place was very well presented, but that is where it all ended. We got there bang on 6pm and settled in for what we thought was going to be a great nights eating as none of had experienced Korean food before. The place was reasonably empty maybe 8 to 12 people spread out over two to three tables so it wasn't super busy.I had one of those Living Social deals for dinner so there were 12 adults and 5 kids at our table.we where there an hour before we were even approached by staff to take any orders.once they came over and set us up with the cookers we were then dished out the condiments to do our BBQing, the amount of food that was placed in front of us wouldn't have left anyone satisfied especially whern they brought out the seafood which comprised one prawn and two scallops per cooker.the word around the table was I think we'll have to stop for a pizza on the way home form all of the guests at our table which most did i myself with my wife went to the Indian restaurant around the corner to get some food to fill the void when we got home.Having said all that the food was extremely tasty, the only issue was that it was in stingy portions which wouldn't and didn't fill my 12 yr old let alone the adults with me.If I was to offer any advice to this establishment it would be 1) if you have a large booking on top of your regular clients ADD more Staff to cater for them rather than making them wait 1 hr to order and then wait between measly sized courses.2) Give your customers decent sized courses so that the wait between them doesn't make them want for a pizza later.it shouldn't matter if you are regular paying customer walking in form the street or a customer with coupons/vouchers you need to treat them all the same.
