Madras Banyan Tree - Melbourne

Went for dinner.....had dosa, idly, uttappam. Excellent food. Courteous staff. They missed an order but then quickly fixed it. There was quite a crowd. So this place definitely seems to be quite popular amongst locals.

The food was good and reasonably priced. We ordered a plate of Idli and some fried rice. The Idli was well cooked and delicious, but the fried rice was just average.

You know that you are on to a winner when you can actually chew and digest the meat in the curry. We each tried one of the lamb and the chicken curries and were greatly pleased. The flavours are excellent.The environment is bright and comfortable.The staff are welcoming and very helpful indeed.I shall be returning here for my Indian food when I am in the CBD.

Simple place. Friendly folks and knowledgeable service. Loved every dish - the fat uthappam, mutton curry, soft idli, crisp vada, the also fat malabar paratha (parota!), the South Indian coffee.The host is a Chennaite from Bangalore and leads the South Indian fare in Melbourne. All of us enjoyed and highly recommend folks looking for South Indian fare in town.

Small simple milk bar style restaurant. Serves more Southern styled food. Lovely Masala Dosa, Idli's etc. Had a nice chicken Manchurian here. Make a nice simple Lassi also.
