Kenzan Japanese Restaurant - Melbourne

Finally found a decent authentic Japanese restaurant in the CBD area! None of that spicy mayo tuna roll or cheesey dragon roll.

We didn't know it was a 4$ when we picked it Now we know why The soup was quite small and was $5 AUD.

This was nice food. I sat on the bench and watched the chefs prepare the sushi and sashimi which was great to watch. Japanese flair and fresh food was top of its class. Sushi great as well as the miso soup with additional ingredients. Not cheap but if you want good food, this is where you should go.

Kenzan is a Japanese restaurant serving traditional Japanese cuisine. It is pricey but then again so are almost every other Japanese restaurants in the cbd. Menu has good variety and an extensive drinks list. The warm sake we had was fantastic,and all the sushi and sashimi is very fresh! Service was quick and friendly, and we got what we ordered despite the place being full of other diners. The only negative aspect of this place is ambience; Japanese restaurants are usually quite low in noise levels but kenzan has tables very close to each other and On a weekend when the place is full, it sounds like a nightclub inside.

I sat the sushi counter for dinner on my own. The waitiresses and waieters are not very well-trained. It seems that they use me to train a new staff. I don't mind unless the service is the same. I ordered a luxury sushi set but was a bit disappointed for the sushi., Some fishes are not in the season. I was surprised when they served to me. It took me a while to order the food or drink as the waiters/waitrsses can disappear at the same time. You need to take 5-10 minutes for an order. I believe that I pay full amount and why do I was bring picked to train new staff. In addition, if you pay credit card, a 2% fee will be charged on the bill. It is illegal in Melbourne. I am not sure why the government allows it. If you don't want to take crdit card, just said no credit card. I am feeling being scamed.
