Not deceived at all, team were realy friendly, no waiting time (which on Melbourne happens frequently). Battered fish were crisps, panko was perfectly cooked not burnt and too oily. Chips (as australian call fries) were crispy. Overall great experience will recommend if you want fish and chips, they do offer greens and other sides than chips to that makes it guilt free too
For the prices they charge which is above the normal you would pay elsewhere. You you expect better quality. They used the cheapest product and charging almost double. Almost overcooked. My local Fish'n'Chip is more readonable priced and quality way above what Hunky Dory charge. Never again.
The staff and the service is fantastic, I have only ever had one problem with my meals and they were extremely quick to fix it, weren’t rude, very good service and the food is even better. Can be a bit pricey but what isn’t these days, definitely will be back , my daughter and her friends are regulars there now never had a problem, they love it. I got flake which was Cooked beautifully, my daughter always buys the chicken skewers and absolutely loves the flavours, salad is always crisp and fresh. If your near the beach it’s worth popping into hunky dory, good food, good people
I selected the Salmon Pack, which came with chips and greek salad. The Salmon was a large fillet and cooked to perfection. Likewise my chips, and the salad was excellent. The quantities were ample. The only downside was pavement dining (I chose it because it seemed a little crowded inside). The table seemed a bit sticky and the breeze had picked up.
Ordered $50 of food. Not delivered. Called restaurant... they laughed on the phone. Went to restaurant... they called manager... nothing. Anotaher customer was complaining in restaurant about fish being rotten.. Shocking.
