Cafe 51 - Melbourne

We both fell in love the first time we visited Café 51 in South Melbourne, so when we heard they were opening a new store in St Kilda, we had to go and pay them a visit. We decided to go on their opening night to give the new venue a try. It is very easily accessible via public transport, with a tram stop literally right next to the location. The venue was very nicely set up, being reasonably spacious and having a modern interior. The burger mural of ‘the Meataxe’ on the wall was really spectacular. Once again, we received extremely friendly customer service as the staff are always bubbly and welcoming. We placed our order and sat down. One of the burgers we tried was ‘the Boss’. This was the first time we had tried their Juicy Lucy patty and it was wonderful. Their patties are already so tasty, so the addition of the cheese centre only enhanced that flavour even more. The chicken was cooked to perfection – being juicy with a hint of spices giving it a bit of a punch. The mozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and warm and cheesy on the inside which worked well with the American cheddar. The bacon, ketchup and mustard accompanied the flavours in the burger really well. There is no doubt that this is one of the best burger joints in Melbourne for many reasons. Their customer service, extremely affordable prices and great tasting food has secured them as one of the tops of our list.

Heart stopper central ... reaally good and BIG burgers !! Had the meataxe. There was so much in there that it... had difficulties keeping it all together.. halfway through and I was wanting more!! But after the jalepenos got devoured receptors in my brain started receiving news flashes from my stomach telling me to ease up cus I'm full! I struggled more so near the end. Think I could've done without a can of creamy soda and chips ;)Oh the deep fried chicken with the jalepenos I think we're the heroes in this meataxe.

This place is insane. Fried chicken as A BUN! A BUN! With like two burgers inside. Incredible. Just don't order through Foodora, they don't separate chilled desserts from hot food so dessert arrived melted

We both went to Cafe 51 and tried 'the Meataxe'. This burger was so scrumptious, and it definitely did not disappoint. The bun was really soft and light. Both the beef patty and the chicken were so juicy, cooked to perfection. The burgers had a generous serving of sauce and bacon, which is always a positive. The jalapeno poppers are cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers that have been deep fried. Even if you are typically not the type for spicy things, these are so tasty. They have a subtle punch to them but when combined with all the other elements in the burger, it just works so well. The onion strings are yummy too, and if you get a burger without them, there is always the option to get them as a side for $7.00. And it goes without saying... lots of melted cheese always makes a great burger.Their 'dirty fries' were a delicious side - with loads of bacon and cheese. We were both pleasantly surprised with the large amount for the small price. Other than their great tasting food, they have very affordable prices and friendly staff, which adds to an overall satisfying and pleasant atmosphere. The service was pretty fast too, which is always good! If you're a burger lover, make sure you check them out.

We have been to Cafe 51 numerous times. Burgers are excellent, service is good. Seating areas are somewhat lacklustre, and it always seems to be windy there and there is very little protection from it.
