Belleville - Melbourne

Previously known for their famous vegan fried chicken, Belleville now offers a new and exciting food direction. The menu focuses on seasonal, produce-driven casual dining that highlights locally sourced ingredients. Catering to all diets, including vegetarian and vegan options, the updated menu is sure to please everyone. And don't worry, the famous chicken is still on the menu! Standout dishes that are highly recommended include the Tasmanian salmon with cauliflower, golden raisins, and citrus butter, heirloom carrots with pistachio dressing and Labneh, char-grilled greens with citrus butter and pecorino, and freshly baked cookies with a vanilla milkshake for dessert. The bar offers 10 beers on tap, a variety of Australian beverages, and an impressive cocktail list. Be sure to try the Old World Cocktail made with Martell VSOP Cognac, cherry herring dry curacao, stirred down and served up.

Belleville has recently undergone a renovation and their new menu features seasonal dishes made with local ingredients. They continue to offer their popular rotisserie chicken and amazing poutine, but have added new standout dishes such as the O'Connor porterhouse steak and Tasmanian salmon. Belleville has maintained its rustic, artistic, down-to-earth atmosphere and is still a place for good vibes, fantastic music, and truly delicious food.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the newly revamped Belleville! Don’t worry, the rotisserie chicken is still there but added to the menu are a few new higher class items that I am beyond excited to try. The inside seems to look the same, that old grungy and historic feel that I’ve grown to love about Belleville. The menu is a shock to the system though as it has gone from a full menu to only a few items separated into courses. There is a distinct change in direction as there is less American on the menu and more of a culturally diverse vibe to it.

Known for their rotisserie chicken, it was juicy and moist. Most surprisingly was their range of fantastic starters and mains. Exemplary service all around highly commended. Belleville is a great use of a space that might otherwise have gone to waste.

My colleagues and I always venture here when we are craving a big, delicious feed of chicken, chips and gravy. Highly recommend this place if you want some amazing comfort food. Also highly recommend for large groups and events.
