The restaurant is also unpretentious and good value.Beautiful, delicious and fresh food - easy parking - 5 stars for me
I been to this restaurant with my family a few times and we always have a very good meal. From the waitress to the chef are all Japanese so expect a very good and authentic japanese food. the sevice is very good. I definitely recomend this hidden gem in north Melbourne.
I have been coming to Akita for many years. First in the Moomba Hotel in West Melbourne - then in South Melbourne and now in North Melbourne. When the original owner, Toshi, sold the restaurant some years ago, things deteriorated. It has improved but it's good, not very good. Kingfish, Chawanmushi and Agadashi Tofu were very good.Guyoza and Salmon croquet were poor - like shopping centre food court fare. The restaurant was almost empty so no pressure on staff. A bit disappointing. Maybe you can't turn back time.
Have been several times to this place and happy with the food. A good selection of sashimi and freshly prepared also a great selection of authentic cooked dishes. Great customer service and quite stealth when serving. Very polite and attentive. Clean restaurant and can be noisy depending on the crowd obviously.
A return trip to an old favourite : the Sakura bento makes for an exceptional lunch. Plenty of parking in the street.
