My meal of delicious spicy scrambled eggs was fabulous, however two of my friends had toasted fruit loaf which was chewy and tough. They felt that the toast was ready long before the other dishes and had been left on hot plates. The butter was melted in the serving dish. It was such a shame as everyone else enjoyed what they had.
I wanted to go to Pope Joan for a while, and it wasn't disappointed! The food was delicious, and I was treated with something special for my birthday, which was completely unexpected, and so thoughtful to the staff. Had a fantastic time!
Really enjoyed lunch with colleagues at Pope Joan today only pickup was given, it was a reasonably warm day, no one checked water for top-ups and all of us went to the venue. It would also be nice to have salt and pepper offered after setting meals instead of waving someone and asking for it.
I know Melbourne has been closed for a long time, but Pope Joan certainly hasn't lit up today. It is more a convenient meeting place for office workers than a destination for brunch. The bacon and egg roll was nice enough, but hardly unforgettable. I had the soft boiled eggs with soldiers. The “Soldiers” were the size of a small man's little finger and there were six (yes, 6) of them! See photo. Combine, this is maybe half a piece of square bread! The eggs were closer to hard cooking, not runny at all. The waitress was really good about it and took it out of the bill, but eggs in a café should not be too hard for any cook/cook/worker. I'm sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but that was John Paul I all the way.
