There is an exposed kitchen. It 's clean and staff are friendly. However having just one waitress means it is difficult to get staff attention. Service is quick and the menu is unique. Choices include quesadilla with beef bulgogi, spicy pork or tofu filling, burrito with similar fillings, fried chicken with four marinade options, a bimbimbab, kimchi fries with mayo jalapenos cheese and other condiments. For drinks, there are some Japanese beers and a Korean beer called cass. You can also get Korean grape juice. We ordered the following 1. Ginger and soy half fried chicken subtle taste. Couldn 't taste ginger or soy. Chicken was quite dry on the inside. 2. Seafood pancake quite nice but very oily 3. Tofu burrito interesting combination with white sticky rice, tofu, mayo. But again quite bland 4. Bulgogi burrito this was quite nice but very sweet. Almost everyone around us just got the fried chicken. What 's the point of a mexican fusion place? The concept is great. Staff are lovely , service is quick, but the food lacks flavour.
For a hit of korean food with a dash of salsa and jalapeno, you'll want to go to Chimac. Located opposite Queen Vic Market on Peel St, this eatery prides itself on its Korean and Mexican fusion food. I'm a fan of Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) and am always up for a new challenger to beat my other favourite stores. Chimac did not disappoint, although I would say there is room to grow even further. We ordered 1/2 and 1/2 of the Ultra Crispy chicken and Wonder Soy. The ultra crispy chicken was alright crispy batter on the outside, tender chicken on the inside (if you didn't get the breast meat which I unfortunately did), but personally not quite anything to shout about. I'd put a little disclaimer though as to be fair, I don't usually order plain KFC. However in this case I was outnumbered in terms of my dinner guests' preference. The Wonder Soy was everybody's favourite. The soy was really tasty and complemented the chicken well. It is however quite wet, so when you pick up a piece of chicken the sauce is still dripping as opposed to sticking on the chicken. It almost felt like they just poured sauce over the Ultra Crispy chicken as the soy taste did not completely envelop the flesh. We also ordered spicy pork Ta Kors (tacos), Kimchi Quesadillas, seafood pancake and a serve of Kimchi Carnitas fries. The seafood pancake is a must have, although the general consensus was that it could do with a bit more seafood. I personally enjoyed the quesadillas as not only was it something different, the cheese they used complemented the overall dish well. Generally dishes are good, and we averaged about $25 a head with drinks. A good place to go for chicken and beer, or just to hang out after work.
Omgggggg if you love korea food and mexican food then you're in luck. This place does a fusion of both cuisines. It's soooooo bomb. Always love eating here with friends. My favourite would be the korean tacos. They're tacos that have korean food filling like bulgogi beef or pork inside. Drooling right now haha. I always get the kimchi fries because they have a unique flavour and it's such a great dish to eat while drinking korean beer. The place is very small as they only have 4 tables but they're like 4 tables for 6 people. Make a booking or go to their 2nd chimac location in richmond as that one is alot bigger. Friendly staff and very helpful
