Ikaruga-no-sato - Matsumoto

Okonomiyaki is not a common dish in the Matsumoto region, but I really believed after some and my family had never before. Based on other reviews (and also the fact that there are not many places in Matsumoto that do Okonomiyaki) we went there for dinner. Depending on what you're used to, the place you can't first meet how you would go to dinner somewhere. The small menu is only in Japanese, but the small board at the front of the restaurant has enough English to tell you this place only makes Okonomiyaki in some different variations ( vegetables, pork, yarn or squid). To our surprise the owner was very good in her English and she was very welcoming and explained the menu. We ordered 3 different types of Okonomiyaki and they cooked it before us. The place really felt like someone at home and it was very personal when they cooked everything on our table. After that we ordered the fried noodles and because it was so good, we ordered another part. Also enjoyed the hot will! It was an unexpected wonderful culinary experience. Simple yet beautiful by a very nice host and delicious home cooked food.

Was a nice little family-run restaurant that freshly prepared the food before you. The owner speaks great English and was very welcoming. We had the yaki soba that was delicious!
