Always great eating and mostly great service but service was slow and appreciate new young inexperienced employees need to learn, but table setting the cutlery was wrong, beaten glass over and spilts drink, asked a coffee alcohol drink but did not appear, required bill but got another table bill then had to ask our again. this was disappointed on a Saturday evening dinner service, but would have been very disappointed if paid for tasting menu and getting bad love for detail.
The staff as normal were fabulous, however our main courses were very disappointing, I had the grouse and it was severely undercooked, the waitress had said that it comes pink which I have no problem with, in fact I don’t mind my meat pink, however the breast was seared on one side then from there all the way through it was just raw, they hadn’t even seared both sides, it looked like a piece of raw liver is the only way to describe it. My hubby gave me a piece of his lamb and I gave him my grouse breast, but it was even too raw for him and he wouldn’t eat it. His lamb was no better again the waitress informed us that it comes pink, again no problem but again it was undercooked, the steak knife struggled to cut it and it was a poor cut of meat. The waitress offered to have it recooked but by that time I’d eaten most of the meal (except the meat) and I wasn’t prepared to wait for 3 small pieces of meat to be brought back to us. The mushroom part was also awful, there were no mushroom caps, just the woody underneath of it and it tasted nasty is I also left that so all I had was the potatoes and broccoli. We had been only visited weeks before and I’d had the grouse and it was amazing, I honestly can’t think what went wrong. We also had to wait over 20 minutes for our desserts (both of which were cold) for saying it was 3 courses we were there over 2 hours. I know we won’t be visiting again for a while.
Most of the food was beautiful. However the duck was really tough so I was unable to eat this and the akin on the duck was very soft. When we mentioned this to the server Her response was thank you. My husbands cracker was undercooked but they replaced this starlight away. We told them it was our anniversary and put it on the booking form. When leaving we asked for our coats to be told they are hung up and to jusy grab them so we had to move other people's coats to retrieve ours. I must say the last time we went it was a lot better
