But unfortunately the food is really average. I ordered a medium rare grass fed sirloin steak (Tasmanian Cape Grim the best! . Steak came it was well done! I could hardly cut it, and I left most of it behind. Unfortunately, if you can't cook a steak, I'm not prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt on anything else! Salad it came with was just average, and mash was OK.
5th Generation Eastern Suburbs and until yesterday I had never set foot in this pub. Justin Hemmes has done this pub a favour, pushing the locals further south due to much better food, prices and ample parking. It is a far better alternative now to Coogee. The one thing I would say is that the kids meals were very ordinary, far too small and almost insulting. I asked for the option of grilled fish for one meal, apart from the fact that the server looked confused that someone may divert from the actual menu, she didn 't even offer to ask the kitchen if it was possible. When the fish arrived it was more batter than fish, about 20 cm long and 1.5cm wide, including batter! Pretty ordinary. And about 20 chips sparingly spread over two plates. I like the way, when you are with a group you can order separately and the venue has been redone really well. I 'll definitely be telling people about it and recommending we go there again with family and friends.
One beer on tap and a few lonely bottles. Bar staff didn't know what was going on. Food menu but only a few nibbles available and that seemed to be a real effort at 1pm on a bank holiday. Pointless and a real shame because this location needs a decent venue.
Went on a Thursday night with a group of friends. Nice vibe and decor. The entrees were a great start and the mains were exceptional. I had an ocean trout in saffron sauce and my husband had a steak. All of us enjoyed our meals and we even had desserts which topped off the night. Enjoyed our first time there hope to go again
Having lived in Maroubra for over 50 years I was excited to visit the new Bay Pub Sorry dissapointed. As it has been advertised that it is transformed for women and a refined hotel I grabbed a group of ladies and we walked, as we are all locals. First impression the decor is the same as any bar or bistro in Bondi and the atmosphere a little boring. Lucky I had my gal pals to liven up the evening with laughter. The food was tasty small portions. There is four hour parking nearby.
