It had a fantastic patio perfect for summer dining! The original owner retired in the fall of 2019, sold the restaurant, and it unfortunately closed under the new ownership shortly after. I believe it is up for sale again now. I hope it reopens soon!
Whenever I visit, I enjoy their salad bar and always order a chicken sandwich, which never fails to impress me.
Travelers, take note! This restaurant could be a good fit for someone with three hours to kill. However, if you’ve just spent a day at Mesa Verde (or plan to), it’s best to keep moving along. Consider dining in a nearby city like Durango instead. The menu features $10 sandwiches and $25 dinners that likely won’t meet your expectations (unless you enjoy ahi ahi). The wait to be seated was frustratingly long, and having a meal here feels like navigating a sluggish legislative process. To be honest, we skipped the $25 entrees, and even the $10 sandwiches would only have been a bargain at $3. Every moment of our meal was plagued by baffling delays and lack of attention. You might wonder what reward awaits you for investing precious hours of your life here, but unfortunately, there is none.
Since when is it acceptable to serve a chicken patty with French fries and tasteless, soupy gravy and refer to it as chicken fried chicken? This is arguably the worst dish I've ever had at Millwood.
The waitress saw us waiting by the "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign but didn’t acknowledge us or seat us for over 10 minutes. We decided to leave, especially since there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant.
