Firstly, please ignore the review left by some numpty in April, I've looked at his reviews of other places and they're all bad!! The Parrswood is a lovely pub. The food we had was delicious and very reasonably priced. We eat here regularly and have...never been disappointed. This time we had the fish pie and the lamb shank, both generous portions, well presented and very tasty. Highly recommended. .
This would be star (or zero), but I feel as though there is more opportunity for this review to be seen if I select Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect a perfect experience from any hospitality venue during these current, unprecedented...times, especially within the first week of opening, however, from the service to the food, everything about my time here was deplorable. Firstly, the time waiting to be served. Fair enough, it’s busy and the pub (as many hospitality venues seem to have done this week), was clearly understaffed, but it seemed as though there was no organisation in who would get served when. Secondly, for a Peroni. How can a below average, unclassy pub be charging prices that you pay in London and Dublin? pound. For a Peroni. Penultimately, the food, again extremely overpriced and worse than what you get at Wetherspoons. The chicken goujon sandwich could very easily have been purchased from the McDonalds down the road and put onto my plate. And last but not least, the staff. I’ve been to pubs across the world, from Manchester to Dublin, Prague to Madrid, Vegas to Bangkok and never, NEVER have a witnessed such an atrocity especially from one of the older members of staff. Firstly, when she was taking orders, she was extremely rude, uncooperative and made us out like we were being a nuisance (despite us having waited for half an hour) secondly, when we were eating (the very distasteful food), a friend of mine asked her for some condiment sachets as she was walking past. Instead of going into the kitchen and getting some new ones, she simply grabbed the ones that she had just taken from another table from previous customers and whacked them down on our table. Understandable in normal times, but I believe there has been some sort of contagious virus around for about months or so now so infact she was clearly just being extremely lazy and not very covid safe if you ask me. Finally, we asked one of the younger, friendlier members of staff if we could move onto one of the higher tables after it had been wiped down which was fine and they went to get the cleaning products. We stood up to put our drinks on the table but before we had a chance, over she stomped the same rude, sachet sharing member of staff, bulldozing through the crowd and thumping her pint down on the high table that she was going to have on her break. Now I worked in the hospitality industry for a number of years and never would I dream of charging over to a table so I could sit there at the expense of customers, there was no apology, just a laugh and she told us to sit where we’d been sitting. Very strange behaviour, from a very strange woman who should be nowhere near customer service. I didn’t want to give any negative feedback about anywhere during the first few weeks of reopening as I undertake how tough it will be, however this quite simply deserved it and needed to be shared. All I can say is that I advise anyone to stay away from this pub, a truly awful experience overall.
Went along here today for our first pint after lockdown now beer gardens are open. They have a lovely beer garden, well presented with a good number of tables to choose from while it still feels safe and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful...whilst still being busy taking orders at the table and running food and drinks from inside. We had a burger which was great. Would have happily sat there all day! Would recommend
Had a really good meal at the Parrswood. Highly recommend the garlic prawn starter. Staff were really friendly and covid rules were well adhered to. The only downside was that the pub was very cold and there was no heating on. Otherwise all good and...food not to be missed.
