Came here during the 50% discount off food bill on a weekday evening. I ordered Three Ricers Battered Haddock which came with real chips and tortilla. It tasted great and was of huge portion. The ambience was good. However, the waiters seemed to be less patient compared to other restaurants I’ve been.

We had an odd experience here. We had one of the mixed platters as a starter which was very good, so our hopes were high. Unfortunately, it went down hill from there. After waiting 45+ minutes for the main, we were told the chef had burnt our food, and there were no more of what we ordered- chicken pie- left so we had to choose an alternative. We therefore had a cheese and onion pie which I would describe as very average. Gravy and incidentals (mash, chips, mushy peas) the same. Afterwards we ordered dessert however this was also forgotten about and we waited another 40 minutes or so until someone realised. My cheesecake was good, but my friend mentioned her brownie had a slightly burnt taste to it. To be fair, after all our problems, the staff comped the main and desserts without us even asking. I can see that this place could be really good, and the concept is fab, however it seems like it's having a few teething problems, as it is not long open. I'm not sure whether I would return or not, given our experience. On the plus side, the cocktails were very good.

My partner and I came here for dinner and it was amazing. We were fortunate to be seated at a large, beautiful round table. The service was excellent, our waiter always had a big smile on his face. He had a wonderful personality and provided great recommendations for the menu and the restaurant. We will definitely be returning. The food was beautifully presented, paying homage to some classics along with a creative cocktail list. We enjoyed the corned beef hash and the chicken pie as our main dishes, both very delicious. We also had a bottle of Malbec to accompany our meal, which had a lovely flavor.

This was a wonderful evening in a peaceful and calm setting. The restaurant was tidy and inviting. The staff were all courteous, well-groomed, and attentive. They promptly assisted with ordering and refilling drinks. There are occasional meal specials available. I would definitely return to 1761 and highly recommend a visit here to anyone.
