The Vineyard - Madera

The crab and shrimp cake hor d'oeuvre was quite good. There are few nonmeat food choices. There was nothing wrong the two main courses we had but there was nothing special about them either. It is a good place to break a journey and have a solid meal. It is a good value compared to equivalent city restaurants.

The busboy was fantastic, but the waitress was just okay. She overlooked a few things, such as the butter for the bread and the bruschetta. We had requested a warm table, but we were seated next to the window, which wasn't very warm—though it was manageable. Overall, it was a pleasant dinner with decent service. I had high hopes for the experience based on the reviews, so I was expecting it to be great. I did appreciate the convenience of the location right off the freeway on our way to Yosemite.

We have been dining at the Vineyard since 1985. Chris and his family do an excellent job, and they have one of the best chefs I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. Hector is a truly creative culinary artist. The Vineyard's Slow Food events are absolutely not to be missed.

The Vineyard consistently impresses. The food is always delicious, the menu is intriguing, and the service is outstanding.

From the moment I walked into the restaurant we were greeted as though we were regulars. The bartender was most gracious in making a recommendation for a fun Friday night libation prior to dinner; it was a Lemon Drop and it was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and quite accommodating when I requested an appetizer that was not on the menu. The Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer was delicious and quite a generous portion. The Lamb Shank was so tender that the meat fell off the bone. Did not indulge in the homemade desserts but I did enjoy a fabulous Irish Coffee. The Vineyard is a “do-over” on my list of fine dining establishments in the Fresno area.
