The Baking Grounds Cafe

It's unsurprising that this place is closing. They are citing inflation and min wage hikes, but anyone who has ever been here could tell you the real reason is poor management. Anything made on site is terrible quality. A friend and I ordered biscuits and gravy burnt. My friend mentioned it having a strange smoky flavor, which is when I admitted that mine was burnt. On top of that, they had way more cooks in the kitchen than they could ever reasonably need. People constantly appeared underfoot. Having known some of the people who worked there, the poor management went further than poor slow customer service and an inability to cook. There were times when the owner showed up and took money from the cash register without recording it, and then had pay checks bounce. Finally, good for the husband of the store owner for wising up and redirecting his wife to do something cheaper and more manageable like the barber shop they're talking about. I can't wait to hear how they manage to burn someone's hair, close the business, and then blame COVID or min wage for that too.

Food was great! Service sucked pretty bad, took forever to even get drinks, then forgot the little one drink, then the people that came after us got their drinks and silverware while we were just sitting there. My coffee was cold by the time they brought a cream lol, i had to ask 3 times for it. Food was amazing if i have to go back i would only go through the drive through.

Excellent experience. I went inside the shop for breakfast takeout at 7:30 AM on a weekday. It wasn't busy. The breakfast menu is short, but has some very nice options. The meal was cooked in full view, behind the counter, while I waited. The cook obviously put care and effort into making my meals. They were both delicious. Time from when I entered the shop until I walked out with the food was a cool 15 minutes. The shop itself is pretty nondescript from the outside, but is pretty, light, and refreshingly clean on the inside. I didn't order any baked goods, but they were very tempting. A nice selection, attractively arranged. The staff was friendly and professional. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Great music playing, lots of natural light, friendly people. I ordered a burger basket and even though it was busy my food was brought to me in about 5 minutes. The burger was great on a homemade bun and they give you a homemade cookie with your food. Their bakery selection is not messing around. Delicious. I will be back. Thank you!
