Having just crossed into Texas, we were both looking for brisket and were not disappointed...tender and delicious. Their potato salad tasted like it had a little sour cream in it, which was very good. Along with normal barbecue fare (pulled pork, brisket, etc. they had some very interesting stuff: Texas Twinkies...jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped in bacon. If we hadn't been so full, we'd have given this a shot Stuffed avocado...avocado with bbq meat, cheese, jalapeños, and I can't remember what else, but it looked GOOD! On my next trip through, that will be my lunch! The place was very clean, and everyone was super nice. Several people, including both owners, the cook, and a counter person checked on us in the dining room. This was an all-around good pick.
We were visiting Lufkin and a local mentioned this place. It is a small bbq place and you can sit down to eat. The service was great and quick and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. The brisket fell apart and was well seasoned. The boudain was tasty, and the bread was sooo good! Even the tea was fresh brewed and tasty. We loved it and will be back when we return to Lufkin.
So I've been wanting to try this place for a while, I don't live in Lufkin any longer but I needed to be in town for something so I decided to load the wife and youngest son to make a day of it, after trekking through the zoo we worked up quite the appetite so I took us here and I honestly don't regret it. I ordered the Texas Landslide with brisket and jalapenos and it was good I wished it was a little warmer in temperature but the flavor made up for it, the wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it was on point my son barely eats any meat besides chicken and even he liked it. What really hit home with this place was the owner came and talked to us like we were the only ones in the room told me the history about the sandwich I chose and about the place we had a really good chat he even noticed my son wasn't eating very much and went back to the kitchen and brought him back a chocolate pie to munch on in which my son wouldn't even let me try. Even though the price is a little high I feel like we got what we paid for and we had a great experience and will be back definitely looking forward to having another tx landslide and maybe some of those toothpicks too. Keep up the great work.
Best food I've had in a while. Great customer service. Everybody there makes you feel like family and they're really good people. Worth the price, I have mo complaints.
The atmosphere is incredibly unwelcoming, the customer service was bad, the music was either blaring or completely turned off, the food is expensive for what it is, my food in particular was extremely bland and i had to pay extra for 5 more jalapenos. Update: both me and my boyfriend's stomachs have been hurting since, do not recommend whatsoever.
