The pierogi is exceptional, with many varieties to choose from, and the stuffed cabbage is also skillfully prepared. The portion sizes are generous, with every meal including a delicious cup of soup (which is truly outstanding!) and a small salad. The entrées also come with additional vegetables, making for a very healthy dining experience. The restaurant is cozy, located in a strip mall on a busy street, and has a small shared parking lot. I recommend doing what we did and parking in a side street, especially on weekends.
This delightful little restaurant is simply charming. While parking can be a challenge, it’s manageable. The food is clearly made with genuine care and love. The pierogis are amazing, and I can confidently say that the pork schnitzel is the best I've ever tasted.
Polka is arguably the finest Polish restaurant in the Los Angeles area. While reservations are not mandatory, it's advisable to make them, especially since the venue is small with limited seating and high demand—particularly on Christmas Eve. The menu and interior have recently been updated; now it features a straightforward two-sided paper layout categorized by appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and more. Recommended standout dishes include their pierogis, schnitzel (opt for the pork), Hunter's stew, and goulash. Every entree comes with soup and salad. Desserts are available, along with a selection of beer and wine. Prices are reasonable, and the service is warm and welcoming.
I've been visiting polka for well over five years and have seen it go through quite a few changes. I'm glad it's still around and that the food is not something that has changed very much per my visit with my twin sister last night. The menu noticeably no longer uses the polish words for each dish and the interior of the restaurant feels much less like my polish grandma's living room than it used to (changes in decorations, music, etc. That said, we loved our dinner plates and the extra side pierogies we ordered, and enjoyed a polish lager though they did not have zywiec like they used to, and found the chicken tomato soup of the day to be delicious though unusually sweet perhaps more sour cream was needed: We will be back again soon.
Excellent Polish cuisine. Just what we needed on a Sunday afternoon. We cook at home as much as possible so we all appreciate food made with love. Pierogis tasted like my grandma’s (born in Lviv, she always served it fried). Tomato soup was super delicious. My roasted pork with mushroom sauce was as a trip back to Silesia, my fatherland. Fabulous, bilingual service. Thank you! Dziękujemy za fantastyczny obiad!
