I've always been curious about this place, and I sincerely regret not dining here sooner. **Squid Ink Karaage (9/10)** This unique take on fried chicken is absolutely exquisite. Although the portion was a bit on the smaller side, each bite was truly marvelous. The chicken was perfectly pink and tender, brined just right—juicy without being overly seasoned. The squid ink added a delightful twist to each bite while keeping the crispy, nostalgic feel of classic fried chicken. The chef also provided a spicy orange sauce that paired beautifully with the chicken. **Wasabi Beef Short Ribs (9/10)** These short ribs were a real treat. I initially worried the wasabi might be too overpowering, but I was immediately reassured when I saw the beautifully pink meat still attached to the bone. The flavor was a delightful balance—rich and complex without any single element being overwhelming. These short ribs were a fantastic surprise, providing a bold and satisfying experience as a beef happy hour item. **Fancy Fries (8/10)** The potato wedges were quite good, generously seasoned with something green (perhaps rosemary?). They arrived piping hot, so I had to let them cool a bit before diving in. After a few minutes, I really enjoyed them. They also came with a chipotle aioli that added a nice cooling contrast and enhanced the overall experience. Overall, I was very pleased with my visit to Hatch. It's a smaller establishment, but the service was excellent, and the food came out quickly and deliciously.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. For our meal, we shared a selection of skewers and were particularly impressed by the eggplant, followed by the mushrooms, and then the pork belly. I even ordered an extra portion of eggplant to take home and now I wish I had gotten even more. I also want to highlight the excellent service — the host was very attentive, and our waiter was wonderful. My only suggestion would be to try to get a table in the back if you're on a date, as the front area is much brighter and lacks the same ambiance. Regarding parking, they do validate it.
Really great spot for an after work happy hour or business meeting. Very good food, relaxed atmosphere, and a excellent staff.
I had wanted to come here for a while, and finally planned a dinner where I could also introduce friends to yakitori. This is NOT authentic yakitori, and also maybe Japanese adjacent at best. The skewers were dry and under seasoned. We got a salmon skewer with furikake, and there was so much furikake it was more like a blackened salmon. Agedashi tofu should be in a broth, this was more like a syrup. The service was very good, and I liked the location. That 's about it. For the price, I can 't recommend this place.
Hatch is a Yakitori/Bar restaurant located at The Bloc in DTLA. I love going here for lunch since 2019 and till now. Food and service is good. They’re always busy but you can be seated faster if you will make a reservation. Inside the restaurant you’ll notice the bright and dark side it’s the YinYang. They will be celebrating their anniversary so try to stop by and try their yakitoris and cocktails as well. ?? Great place to hang out too even on a weekend.
