So much energy, such a great crowd, people gathering and living their best 20-something lives overflowing onto the street in Franklin Village. My friend and I came Sunday evening around 7 PM and the place was packed. We got seated twice, outside. The second time was under a heater (and it was the second week of July). Our server was pleasant and good-natured. Our request for appetizer-before-entrée was unheeded, the sauces for the tasty onion rings were botched (then corrected) and the chicken in my chicken Caesar salad was desiccated, lying hapless on a bed of joyless Romaine with tasteless dressing. My friend enjoyed his hamburger. If you prefer charisma to competence, step right up. They're serving it.
The food and drinks here are bomb. I'm not usually a fried chicken guy, but it's just about the best I ever had in my life. Their grits and biscuit were authentic southern good. And topped off with a nicely balanced cocktail... can't wait to come back.
After a hike to the Hollywood Sign, my friend found a great local business that's known for their rotisserie chicken. They have outdoor seating by the sidewalk which was full when we arrived at 130 pm but we were promptly seated after a table opened up. I had a salad with added chicken and was surprised by the large portion of chicken breast. Unfortunately I found the chicken a bit dry but the rest of the salad and dressing complemented well. My friend enjoyed the tuna burger and I noticed it had plenty of fixings and looked flavorful. The staff was great in checking in every so often, and I can understand why this place is a local favorite.
I recently dined at Birds and had a wonderful experience. The veg wrap I ordered exceeded my expectations in terms of freshness and generous filling, while the waitress provided exceptional service with her kind and friendly demeanor.
Fun unassuming bar in the Franklin village strip. Not pretentious at all but still about as happening as Franklin village gets. It's a great place to grab a low-key dinner before a UCB show or maybe heading over to La Poubelle for a few cocktails. I really dig the food in the simple atmosphere. Definitely one of my spots and I recommend it. Now get on over there and snack on some of that there chicken. Ya dig?
