I recommend trying the chef's specialties for the entree, main course, and dessert. At $65, it was great value. The cocktails were very good, especially the cherry sour. There is a great selection of spirits in the cozy sports bar.
The food, service, and friendliness at this restaurant were outstanding. Despite some negative reviews that seem to be from competitors, our dining experience for our Ruby wedding anniversary was superb. The staff took great care of us and even surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate. We highly recommend this place. Thank you to everyone!
The restaurant had received mixed reviews, but we decided to dine in anyways. We tried the seafood and the slow-cooked lamb pasta, both of which were excellent. The staff was welcoming and attentive.
My husband and my parents were hoping for a nice dinner to end our Easter weekend away. It took us a while to get served but figured that’s common these days with staff shortages. We were surprised that after we had ordered our meals (and drinks , that within 7 minutes my parents meals had arrived (one of them a porterhouse steak!!! even before we had gotten our drinks! Mums steak was cold, and one of her sides barely cooked. When we asked where mine and my husband’s meals were, we were told they were put through on two different dockets so they would arrive separately. We asked the waiter to take the steak back and we asked again about our meals, only to be told he only brings the food out. I went to speak with the manager who was rude and condescending, and again told me the meals were on two dockets. I told him that we had not requested that, and by this stage my dad had finished his meal while we were still awaiting the others. Given the price of the meals we ordered and the attitude of the staff we decided to cancel our remaining order and leave the restaurant. Really disappointing end to what was a nice weekend away. It is reasonable to expect more from a restaurant that is priced like this.
Having been to this restaurant just 12 months back and having a great experience I talked a number of friends into trying this Steakhouse. Bad decision on my behalf. Before I go any further let me make it very clear that I’m well aware of thought times all business owners are experiencing with lack of staff and more importantly experienced staff. This restaurant is obviously experiencing difficulties in employing experienced staff as the wait service was terrible. They could not answer any questions about the menu and then proceeded to put wrong meals down without any knowledge of what they were serving. On top of this they would not clear empty dishes without being prompted. On to the food. “Steakhouse Right?” You would expect the staff would know the difference between steaks when being served but more importantly you would expect the steaks to be cooked pretty close to your request. Unfortunately 3 of 6 steaks ordered medium rare came out well done. Then whist waiting for them to be recooked to request all of the sides went cold. No offer of fresh warm serves for those who had to wait for another steak. There is a big difference between medium rare and well-done so hence the reason I’m being very critical. Duck Fat Potatoes!!! Who does not like them. Seeing these on the menu had all of our mouths watering. Bingo, you right they were the most furtherest thing from duck fat potatoes you could get. Baby Octopus- forget that. We had 4 serves and not one of us enjoyed that. Broccoli charred was delicious My recommendation is to not dine here. There are some amazing restaurants in Lorne. Ipsos, Almyra, and the Indian restaurant I’d by far the best Indian I’ve ever eaten. Go there. I don’t like writing such negative reviews but unfortunately on this occasion The Larder missed the mark by a long way.
