When the chips and salsa taste store-bought, it's concerning about the overall quality of the food. The chipotle sauce on the steak was delectable and the ground beef taco was delicious, but the rice and beans lacked flavor. Unfortunately, half of our chicken and pulled pork tacos were disappointing, and it was disheartening that the best part of the meal was the fries from a Mexican restaurant.
This restaurant used to be one of my favorite spots to eat in London. After many years, I returned with a guest to share this restaurant with my spouse. We ordered the steak fajitas, chips, and salsa. Unfortunately, the fajitas had a strange smell and the meat was tough. The waitress acknowledged the smell issue and disappeared into the kitchen. When she returned, the food was cold and her only solution was to recook the meat with fewer spices. We declined another order and were given the full bill. The service was poor and we will not be returning to this restaurant. They need to improve their customer service.
I went to this restaurant with some friends and found that there were four open tables that had not been cleared yet. We were told that there would be a 45-minute wait because there was only one server working. I even offered to clear a table myself and seat ourselves, but the server refused. This establishment should improve their service and not expect customers to leave feeling happy after such a disappointing experience, especially for first-time visitors. Another couple had a similar experience and the hostess mentioned how frustrated he was. My friends and I will not be returning to this restaurant, as our first interaction was terrible and unprofessional.
Highlights- a fabulous waitress (Caprice), free chips and salsa, groundless well drinks and delicious fried ice cream. We visited in the 70s when the restaurant was in an old house on Colborne St. south of the tracks. Then we followed them to Richmond St. opposite the Shelby building. They are currently located on the Wharncliffe River. There are some excellent points as mentioned above. Service was exceptional. Caprice refilled the drinks without even being asked. The homemade chips were warm, crisp and tasty, but the salsa had a strange taste. I found the prices high! I and my two big daughters ordered chimichangas pork, chipotle steak and chicken $21.49 each- they must be the most expensive in town and the plates were not good enough to guarantee this price. Mine was under. The Cole Slav was not great with 2 of our 3 left it. With the fried beans I could only taste chili powder. The meal was just not good. The fried ice cream in a taco bowl was delicious $9.79. Bill for 3 without alcohol was $90.67 top. I will compare other Mexican restaurants to find a better value without compromising quality.
Been looking for a good Mexican place after moving here from the US. Will continue to keep looking. Honestly this is the worst Mexican I've ever had. We just had the tacos and burritos. The food is sweetened unnecessarily and I ended up grabbing a bottle of jarred salsa instead of the big tub I spent 7 bucks on. That says a lot! The rice was awful. The beans horrible. Stay away!
