You would think with the introduction of the Beyond Meat burger at A&W they would be upping their game but it’s been the opposite. They seem to have...gotten rid of staff and replaced them with self serve machines. The only way you would know this is if you noticed the tiny sign at the front. Now that the self serve machines are there, staff won’t even acknowledge you when you come in and will ignore customers who clearly don’t realize it’s self serve only. They have also started cheaping out on the food. For example, The Grilled Gary used to be made like a traditional grilled cheese but now they make it on a burger bun with the top sliced off which is super weird. It is about half the size it used to be and it tastes pretty gross but the price is still the same. I would recommend if you’re looking for a vegan fast food fix downtown that you just go to A&W instead or travel a little farther to V Food Spot. It’s really a shame because Globally Local used to be awesome and they had a great concept. Hopefully they will realize they have slipped and will turn the place around...
I am not at all a vegan but wanted to try it. Heard about the vegan burger that tastes like a big mac, well it tasted the container they serve a big mac in. Was dry and tasteless. The fries were really good though. I...won't be back beside the food sucking the staff take their breaks in the eating area and feel it ok to remove their shoes and put their feet up on the seats. That is totally disgusting and unacceptable. I heard about a restaurant called Plant Matter going to give them a try. Avoid GL at all costs colossal waste of time and
Globally Local is by no means healthy, but if you're looking for a place to indulge in some greasy vegan comfort food, this is a good place to do so. The restaurant has a fast-food chain restaurant vibe, with the nice addition of some lovely...artwork on the walls, but a bit grimy-feeling, specifically in regard to the sticky floors. The food is pretty good- I've tried the vopper and the chickun Caesar wrap with onion rings and fries, and they were both a nice way to indulge in some vegan fast-food, at a really reasonable price, especially if you get a combo.
So if you’re vegan, it’s a great option compared to say Denny’s or Harvey’s. If you’re also GF the menu shrinks in size about 90%. One remaining option the Vegan Big Mac is being discontinued as GF. They aren’t going to carry the patties anymore;...they had a few left. And you get bread instead of a bun. It tasted fine, but it’s leaving. The location is some other place that closed and it’s kind of dingy and that’s fine, but a $50 cost of paint would do wonders to brighten the place up. So would a good deep cleaning. They clean the tabletops but not much else.
Spacious dining area but lacking in atmosphere. I had a fantastic burger for dinner, it was delicious, and the Superfries were the best I've ever had. The staff at the counter were friendly and welcoming. However, I was disappointed to see that there was no effort made to recycle the small, wasteful plastic packaging and ketchup packets.
