Blackfriars Bistro And Catering

We took dinner last night in the blackfriars bistro guests. we were there often and enjoyed the food and the service very much. none of our guests were there before, because they came out of town, our...guests had arrived too late. that seemed to disturb our server. she said she had to call her next customers who had booked the table to tell them she would come later. we assured her that we would go to a concert and go in time, but she seemed to have her nase out of the fuge for the rest of the evening. we ordered our appetizers before the other arrived and they arrived soon after. we asked if they could order appetizers so that they could eat them close to the time when we ate ours. they would not take their appetizer order and insisted that all other orders had to be taken at the same time. everyone at the table could say that she was not happy with us! when she cleaned the table from the appetizers, my man asked if he could get a clean set of cutlery (which is done in most upscale restaurants). that seemed to upset her too. Finally, my husband told her that her attitude ruined our dinner. She didn't apologize. she answered that we were entitled to enjoy our dinner as we wanted. even though she smiled when she talked to us, her escaped something else than pleasant. eating was very good as usual. five of us six really enjoyed our meal times. the duck breast with a blueberry sauce was particularly good. we ask, however, whether we will ever return to the blackfriars bistro. this was a business dinner, and this server made the evening unpleasant.

Owner was very friendly, but eating was very disappointing. the suppen and salate enjoyed, but the escapes were very unsatisfied. vegitarian lasagne was quite tasteless.

We thought we would try the restaurant again after the last time we had eaten there, had been disappointed. Unfortunately, our last visit was not anomaly. the service was excellent; the salate were delicious, but the main courses were still missing. I understand that the restaurant has recently changed the hands and perhaps that is the reason why it is simply not as good as we remember.

We went for a pre-Valentine’s Day lunch at Blackfriar’s and very much enjoyed our experience. While there is a compact but pleasing menu available, there is also an extensive choice of daily specials on the blackboard in the restaurant. We chose the tenderloin tips in...a coconut pad thai sauce. It was excellent and was well complemented by wine or beer. For dessert we shared apple strudel with lavender. It was perfect when divided by two. Ending coffees were excellent. It would seem that for this smallish bistro, reservations would be necessary. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is super!
