The description had mentioned live music but on arrival we were placed to the side of the reception area and the staff had no idea about live music. The area was busy with guests coming in and out of the hotel and it rather felt like somewhere you would sit to wait for someone, rather than a suitable place to sit and dine. We were asked which tea we would like and this was served but we had to ask for sugar and a spoon. I opted for the RAF Heroes tea but I think the RAF would have needed more fortifying with the tea that turned up. Nothing much to write or fly home for. Crockery was quite utilitarian. No fancy china even at £65 a head. Time ticked by, 35 minutes until we were asked what we wanted. We decided just to have cream tea as to be frank we were now not prepared to pay that sum given the experience so far. When we asked how long before we’d receive scones we were told a further 15 minutes. We opted to leave and look for another venue instead.
We were there for afternoon tea. We had reservations but the staff were shuffling us around between dining room and lounge. We clearly said we were there for afternoon tea but the communication between the staff members were not clear to each other. The value of food and service did not equal the cost. We paid £132 total for 2 and the sandwiches, scones and dessert were smaller than any other places. The Biltmore hotel is beautiful and ambiance was fine. The food and service was not to satisfactory. They were not busy at the time. We will not go back there for any type of dining experience!
Very odd setting to have afternoon tea in the lobby just inside the front doors with people getting luggage staff hoovering as we ate. Food was good although the sandwiches were straight from the fridge. Everything was served at once and service felt somewhat forced. For the same price you can go to the Corinthia for tea do I'd suggest going there instead for a much better experience.
Much better options available at the same price point. Service was not attentive. Had to sit for 15 min before being served for the first time and once we we served no one came back to see if we needed anything else for the whole duration of our visit. Cakes and scones were nice but considering the overall experience I won’t be returning.
This review is for the bar and not the hotel itself. I had drinks and a late night dinner here after checking in to the hotel. We sat at a table and were informed we could order food from the night menu. We asked for some menus that our waiter brought us before disappearing again. After a few minutes he showed up again and we were ready to order. We got through or drink order before he disappeared again. He came back again and took our food order before disappearing again. At this point, not even our drinks had shown up. Our drinks came by a little later. We had long finished our drinks when one of the waiters commented our food would be out shortly. As he was walking away, I asked for another water. It took a few minutes before our food finally showed up. The food was reasonable, but nothing special. The service was about the same, nothing spectacular. It was kind of expensive, but there weren't a lot of options. It was one of the few choices available at that hour so I'm glad it was there, but it wouldn't be my first choice if other restaurants or bars are available. One piece of interesting history is this the bar that Alexander Litvinenko may have been poisoned while drinking tea leading to his assassination.
