A warm greeting from awaited us from the Floor Supervisor Alice who took us to a well stocked bar before we sat at our table. I loved the feel of the actual menu, it felt like cowhide which added to the ambience of being in a chop house. Our table waiter for food was Alejandro who was very friendly, and after taking our order and asking about allergies, finished with no further questions ....given the proximity to the Old Bailey I found quite humorous! We have the sourdough bread, rarebit soldiers, hot salt beef brisket sandwich and the burger, with fries. Great meal, well cooked in the open kitchen (spotlessly clean by Wesley. Now I am not sure just how excited you can get with fries, just they were delicious.....Like eating crispy air! Our drinks waiter, Yannick, was very attentive and knowledgeable and kept a steady flow of great cocktails. The evening finished with an introduction to the GM, Red. Friendly and engaging and willing to spend time with Customers, always a winner with me. The price point was good, with an option to upgrade if you feel to do so. We will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend......Thank you Team PCH :
We went to this restaurant as we had read on their website that this was where the First Dates filming took place. Once there we realised this was not the case as it looked very different. When we asked about this they told us that they had moved and 'not got around to updating their website '! Yes, the restaurant was Paternoster Chop House but the location where First Dates was filmed changed 2 years. Felt conned from their website. We stayed for the meal as it was too late to change as we didn 't know where to go. but felt very very disappointed. The meal was ok and the place seemed busy. Shame their website is deceiving.
The venue is quite standard since the move. The food we had was disappointing although the wine was good. My parter had steak tartar, which was not particularly well cooked. They were also out of the mushroom tartar and therefore as a vegetarian I had to have the chicory salad. This was really disappointing and the walnut made me gag. The mains were better, my partner was happy with his fish but the vegetarian item was disappointing, quite stodgy with no exciting flavour. The service was okay, but nothing here would make me revisit.
Table booked for a group of colleagues. Restaurant chosen specifically because website states a Chefs Set £25/30 Menu is available Fridays from 5pm-9.45pm. Our table was on a Friday evening at 7.30. When we arrived and asked about the set menu, we were told it wasn’t available, and is ‘only available sometimes’. Final bill was over £100 a head. Food and service was good, but menu misadvertising is a very poor show indeed.
I imagined that this new Paternoster Chop House would be a shadow of the original one in Paternoster Square. In terms of ambience, I might be right. In terms of service and quality of food I was wrong. The service was really good, the food was delivered quickly and was cooked to perfection. I was very specific about how I wanted my steak cooked, and the kitchen met the brief perfectly. OK, we were two of four people there and it was early so no waiting issues. Very good experience. Small gripe, no tablecloth like the original and a bit gloomy but other than that, very good.
