I had a great meal at L'Antipasto last night. It was a bit of a gamble trying out a new place, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. The prices were reasonable as well. The restaurant was fairly busy, especially compared to the other empty pubs and restaurants we passed by in the area. We will definitely be returning soon.
Let me take you back to early 2019 when my housemate and I visited L’Antipasto in London, near Battersea Park. Unfortunately, our dining experience left much to be desired. Despite our disappointment and upset stomachs, we revisited the restaurant recently in hopes of finding a good, local Italian spot to support post-pandemic. As a huge fan of Italian food, culture, and language, I was eager to give L’Antipasto another chance. However, I must say that while the service and atmosphere were impeccable, the food was incredibly disappointing. The house wine was subpar, the pasta was poorly cooked, the bruschetta soggy, and the meat unappetizing. This restaurant has so much potential, but they need to focus on getting the basics right and creating Italian dishes to be proud of. It’s important for them to showcase their Italian roots and passion in their food.
I’ve eaten here before Covid and the only change is a separate exit door which remained closed the whole time I was there. It felt worryingly crowded.
Booked with high expectations massively underwhelming. Service was extremely poor, had to wait 15 minutes for my table, food was average at best. Worst part was the fact that toward the end of our meal, a couple were seated quite literally next to us, as if we were at the same table. Outrageous in the times we’re living in and capped off a pretty terrible experience. There’s better places to go for Italian food.
