The Vietnamese restaurant has been hugely popular over the past years with line ups almost on a daily basis. I was there for Monday lunch and ordered prawn & pork spring rolls and a big bowl of special beef pho (rice noodle). 3min from ordering, the spring rolls arrived. The four small servings were deep fried to golden brown with shredded salad on the side. Spring rolls were crispy and contain shredded carrot, minced pork and tiny re-hydrated shrimp. Taste wise, nothing special with the carrot overpowering the fillings and you can barely taste the pork & prawn. For $7.20 a serve it’s on the expensive side. 2.5/5 The special beef pho was up next containing rare sliced beef, brisket, beef ball, tendon, strip, onion and spring onion to garnish. The big bowl of happiness was well presented with decent amount of toppings and noodle. Meats were tender and flavoursome & the rice noodle cooked to perfection. A taste of the soup is where the issue begin. The whole bowl was overpowered by Thai basil with thin beef taste and virtually no depth of flavour (that’s before I added in the bean sprouts & fresh Thai basil provided). After finishing most of the solid contents I was left with a metallic after taste on the pallet and thirsty (MSG overload?). 3/5 Service side was friendly and efficient. No free hot tea was on offer though (fairly surprised). 4/5 The last time I visited (early last year) I found the taste of the pho was way more flavoursome. The spring rolls contains more meat then veggies and decent sized chopped fresh prawns was included. This time around, I was left disappointed and confused. After reading a comment from Joe K, I realized the ownership has changed a few months ago. Apart from Inala, Pho Sai Gon is still my go to place for pho in south side Brisbane. Hint: Their spring rolls are not worth trying. Give their four treasure broken rice a go.

Ordered a combination '4 treasure' rice (with pork chop) for dinner the other night when Vietnamese Hut had sold out of grilled pork chops. The pork chop was obviously not grilled, and the egg was slightly overcooked but still I liked the dish overall. I would rate it a 3.5. These guys do the best lemon cured beef salad I have had in Brisbane. It easily rates a 4.5. Other than that their other dishes are quite good and I would say they provide pretty good quality Vietnamese food. Mrs Kan Do is a fan of their stir fries, particularly the black pepper beef and the lemongrass beef. Have tried quite a few of their dishes, including vermicelli (bun) salads, their fried rice and a few others. Overall quite a good value place, which is always packed.
Hue Style Spicy Soup is theeeeeee best here. I love coming here and probably eat here at least once a week! I also like the Spicy Beef Pineapple Soup, the Ho Fung Beef, Crispy Maryland chicken, deep fried prawns and deep fried squid.....and the best paper rice rolls! This place never fails me!!!
My go to Vietnamese place for a quick hearty meal. Service and decor is very average but genuine authentic Vietnamese food! My favorite is the special beef pho
