The real problem for me is that now you must order through your smart phone. No...more menu given to you. So what I suppose to do that I do not have a smart phone. Gee I am 71 and I am too slow to put up with new technologies. Shell I go hungry then? No, I instead shell avoid these insane requests of ordering with the smart phone and go to places where they give you a menu in paper.
Was a Saturday night and only one other table of people and I now know why. The food wasn't very fresh and so much of it was deep fried and not enjoyable to eat. Even if the food was good I'd never go back again...because the staff were so unbelievably rude.
For most people, a vegetarian meal is a mystery. But if you see the menu, it is almost like a regular restaurant except that the meat (Beef, Pork, Chicken) is not real meat but soy protein. It is a healthy alternative to meat and if...lets say Sweet Sour Pork, the sauce base is the same and tastes similar if meat was used. Pu Kwong has been operating a long time and a few meat lover friends I had try said that the food was not an unpleasant but surprisingly good, Go give it a go and be pleasantly surprised.
I ate here last Friday with my daughter, who is considering becoming vegetarian, so wanted to see what a restaurant offers. We had wontons and drumsticks for entree. Both really delicious. Chicken with cashews and Sweet Sour pork for mains. The non veg component...in the cashew dish was a little large as a serving but taste was okay. Sweet sour was so delicious. Did not seem vego at all. Overall a nice dining experience and will definitely go back and try different dishes.
Visited Pu Kwong Vegetarian Restaurant with intention of using the Entertainment book. Really important to note that if you visit Pu Kwong you should visit with intention of getting some really good authentic, Chinese vegetarian/vegan food and not come for decoration, service or entertainment. Also, if you are visiting and also planning to use the Entertainment book note that even though they have eftpos facilities, the owners will only accept a cash payment for it. If you 're dining without this, eftpos and cash facilities are available. Despite this, the portion sizes are great and great to share. However, almost everything we ordered was deep fried and we could not tell based on the menu. The menu simply states the dish and does not provide much description or any images.<br/ <br/ We ordered the sweet and sour king prawns. These were so delicious. The texture of the 'prawns ' was almost the exact same as a real prawn which was so amazing. The sweet and sour sauce was really nice too highly recommend ordering this tasty dish! The lemon chicken is really authentic and definitely tasted like actual lemon chicken! The lemon flavour was not overpowering at all either. We also ordered a deep fried eggplant dish which was so nice and perfectly fried. The last thing we ordered was a red bean pancake in the entrees. This was quite average and would probably not reorder this. Apart from this entree, all the dishes were so delicious and highly recommend ordering any of these dishes!<br/ <br/ The customer service was acceptable, nothing great but can 't really complain. Pu Kwong is a family run business so sometimes there may not be enough waiters as there are not many staff. Overall, we will be returning to get some delicious Chinese vegetarian food but do not have very high expectations for anything but the food. The meat substitutes used are very similar to that of actual meat so that 's great!
