If you are in Livingstone, do not miss this experience. We were transferred there by jet boat through the best pilot of jet boats on the planet, Masau. We stopped seeing different hippos The interaction with the elephants is from this world, then they serve you the most delicious meal, prepared with locally produced products. Just heavenly. Everything about it is amazing.
Up here. The food is delicious. You have vegetarian option. But this is the minimum of an evening here, feeding and being with the elephants is unique. This place feels like the closest to an animal sanctuary you can find here. It's a little pricy youg, but then again, so are all the activities you can do here.
I found out about the Elephant Café in the night before we arrived in Zambia and decided to splash (this is NOT a cheap activity), after all this was our honeymoon! There are two ways to get to the café, a 20-minute drive or 30-minute boat ride, which includes a short tour through the Zambezi River. Choose the boat trip! This was one of the funniest experiences of our entire journey through the river, to see small rapids and stops birds, hippos and crok with our guide who was like our own Steve Irwin! Once you arrive at the café, the first-class 5-star service begins. You get a short briefing from the café owner and go to the elephant trainers that you will introduce to these amazing animals. Each elephant has his own personal trainer who gives you a bag of peanuts to feed them, these guys are like the giraffes all they wanted to do is eat and eat. After the elephant food, go to the restaurant for dinner, which was the best meal we had in Zambia! Everything was fresh and made to order. Wines were included with dinner with special cocktails for a surcharge. Professional photos and a short video for your Instagram are also included. You will also take photos with your phone if you want. During dinner we started a lonely hippo that goes into the elephant stable, apparently this hippo comes here for a while and made friends with the elephants! Hippos usually remains in the pack, so it is quite rare to be on your own.
The food was great, the speedboat ride up the Zambezi thrilling but for me, it was about the elephants. I would have paid twice as much just for the opportunity that I had to touch them and feed them and look into their lashy eyes. They are the sweetness, most beautiful animals on earth and I got to be close to them for awhile, thanks to this truly wonderful organization doing such great work in Africa.
