However, I was recently shocked to hear that they have announced the closure of their business. I understand that it must be challenging to operate a business in Butuan, especially with new and excellent competitors offering delicious dishes. I will definitely miss Aling Cora's home-cooked meals.
The ambiance is lovely and I particularly enjoyed listening to the live musicians, which was a pleasant surprise for a restaurant in the Philippines. We will definitely be returning.
I visited the restaurant three times just to have a cold beer. The staff were always friendly and efficient, which is not always the case in the Philippines. The place was always bustling with locals, which is a good sign.
We wanted to try out the grilled tuna in Aling Cora's but it wasn't available for dinner. Maybe lunch time is a better time although it could be hot because it is not airconditioned. Instead we had a pleasant meal of shrimp sinigang with live music in the background.
If you what to try some pinoy food then this is the place. The locals eat here so if it good enough for them then I will give it a go. Got there late but the staff were very helpful and friendly. We picked our own table and the waiter came right over to get our order. He spoke some English, well enough to get what we needed. Food came out in about 15 minutes as there where getting ready to close. But all the same it was all cooked to order. Nice tasting and fresh. The place is a little dirt but it is an open air fronted road side food stop. In the back there is a room with A/C if that your thing. But all in all....Nice
