Wow, so much worth, and so much eat. no hurry here. put them back and enjoy them. eating is amazing and very fillable. we had a table for three and served for double I am sure.
Amazing eating for a good price, great cocktails and staff, especially the English manager will be safe again!
For the first time at kitsch and we are already planning a return visit. fabulous food and fabulous service. What else could they ask for? we had a few of the flounder plates, the chicken wings are supposed to die, and a few bigger teller. the caramelized bark and the lamb massaman were delicious. highly recommended.
After getting a break from family, felt so exhausted so had to go to bed early, but roused myself so I could come out to this bar and relive its origins, (yes, the last time I was here was when Scottish Chef Iain Lawless was...running the joint, a good while ago . The first thing that struck me that the decor, thank goodness, had remained the same with the frangipani tree is still taking centre stage at the the front area with fairy lignts amongst the branches. There are still asian inspired knick knacks and funky pictures on the walls. Thank goodness not all the seating was still too low, now it's more of a mix of communal areas and proper chairs. (I seem to remember sitting on empty milk crates . The dining area spills from inside the front gate all the way into the building proper so a great place to go on a warm evening. The menu is still loyal to what it was then, hawker street style food with Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. I ordered Crispy Teriyaki Fish Fillets with crunchy slaw wasabi. The fish was several pieces of tempura battered crunchy goodness, garnished with black sesame seeds. Being a good size, the crunch disappeared into mush halfway through (maybe they were basa fillets? The coleslaw was full of crunch, colour and texture with whole pieces of chili contained in it. I had to leave these on the plate once the wasabi revealed itself. It was quite a hit, to the extent I had quite a lot of water, very gratefully received. I also ordered a dessert, a peanut butter parfait with salted caramel and praline. It came as a single tumbler in which the parfait was topped with crushed peanuts. So going from a hot spicy main to a soft and fridge cold parfait played havoc with my chili affected mouth. I still enjoyed my meal.
