I was extremely disappointed with my dinner tonight at Milanos from the minute I entered. I made reservations on line. The choices for seating were bar, high top, or standard. I chose standard. When we arrived I informed the hostess we had reservations. Where does she seat us? A high top at the bar specifically where I asked not to be seated. When I told her our reservation was for standard seating, she rolled her eyes and seated us in the requested area. Then we ordered our wine and food. Out came soft focaccia, resembling drenched white bread. I prefer a real Italian crusty bread. And our waitress forgot our drinks and needed to be reminded way after our salads came out. My dish, the scallop puttanesca was sub par. I've had puttanesca pasta in many restaurants and this was definitely the worse. Very heavy on the cheese or cream and no detectable anchovies. The scallops were over cooked. My husbands linguini clams were just okay. The best part of the meal was the garlic spinach (not on the menu, but I requested if I could get a veggie). Overall, a very disappointing experience.
Had a small group dinner last Saturday. We've had both lunch and dinner at Milanos and found it a hidden gem in the Loudonville area. The staff is spot on with service and the food makes it a favorite destination.
The food (filet minion and tuna) and ambiance (elegant old school-meets-modern Italian-American) were very good for our anniversary dinner. The bread and dipping oil while we were waiting were phenomenal, and the roasted potatoes with our meals were delicious. Waitstaff was friendly but I feel that the service experience lacked that “extra something”. For example, when we arrived and were given a menu, I had to ask if we could put a drink order in, as the waiter was going to walk away. Similar things occurred throughout the meal where I sort of felt that we were walking ourselves through the process. Despite the restaurant having only a few customers when we arrived (5:15 seating time, so it was early yet), the wait time for food, and between each checkpoint was quite long (half an hour or so for dinner after placing our order). Also, after dinner I ordered dessert and noticed that the mousse was distinctly not the flavor I ordered. After checking with the kitchen, the waiter admitted that they served me the wrong dessert. However, they were apologetic and took it off the bill without me even asking. Summary: Very enjoyable experience with only a few minor hiccups. We would definitely go back!
Nice atmosphere and a good menu with something for everyone. Thet have a nice patio for outdoor seating. The beer menu is lacking. Service was pretty good but could've been faster since they werent busy. Pizza was good but pasta was hard/al dente. The bread and oil were the best part of the meal.
