However, I wasn't a fan of the pork empanada; it tasted bland and dry without much flavor. The arroz con gandules was good, but it didn't have that distinct Caribbean flavor you’d expect from Puerto Rico or like my grandma makes. The yucca with onions was decent, but I've definitely had better. Overall, it's not a bad place to eat.
4.5 stars! the customer service was phenomenal! we loved the atmosphere and the quality of eating. I was on the fifth star, because the brows of the yuca was quite anointed. I was glad I could remove it when it was poured over. not an important thema, but it is worth noting. they will not be disappointed by their empanadas! we will definitely come back.
Drive for 2.5 hours to try this place for the first time. wow, speechless! great personal, great taste, authentic puerto rican food. the real thing. I have the chuletas can. oh young, who was tasty, mofongo was perfect and the arroz con gandules was on the spot. this is my place to go from now on. much better than the others, they believe me!
We started to share with a bark cheese empanada garnelen empanada. we enjoyed both, but the garnels in creole sauce was delicious and very tasteful. we ordered the carne frita plate with red beans, the pernil (shrinked pigs) with yucca and rice el jibarito sliders. wow. it was all so different. the pernil was moist tasteful. the yucca (very similar to a potato consistency) with garlic was good. the carne frita was well seasoned tender, but the star of this plate was the red beans. so good! my man poured the red beans over the rice (I think he would have licked the soße from the side of the bean bowl) and stirred in the pieces of roast pork. he said that would be the best way to eat it. about my el jibarito slider. the fried clarinette bunkers were crispy and unique. the fillings were perfect. also ordered a side of the beautified garlic onions (only $2 extra) I would have eaten a bowl of those of myself and they were an excellent accompaniment to my sliders. I've been sharing the wobbles with the others. I loved the house sauce that was crashed over my slider, but my man was a big fan. I would say it seemed like a ketchup mixed with a garlic aioli type of creamy sweet tomato garlic Mayo sauce. if they are not sure they like it, I would arrange it on the side if they order one of the el jibarito sandwiches that come with him. I wish they could serve beer wine. perhaps in the future? will definitely return to try other menu offers. service was good, restaurant toilets very clean.
I visited this restaurant twice. During my first visit, I had the pernil with arroz con gandules and fried yuca. The pernil was similar to a traditional Thanksgiving-style dish, and this plate stood out in particular. On my second visit, I tried the carne frita with habichuelas guisadas, and it was just as impressive. The meat was flavorful and tender, and the beans were perfectly seasoned, allowing all the flavors to shine through.
