One reviewer stated that the music was a little loud and I agree. The volume might be kept up so that the music spills into the next room if so, adding a couple of speakers in the room and then turning down the volume to something more reasonable might work. One reviewer was ambivalent about the selection of books. I can't remember if they spoke of books for sale or books for viewing pleasure. Either way, I thought their selection of books (for viewing) was interesting. I've found some stuff that I'd like to read, so I guess I'll have to go back sometime. They have a bookstore too, but I didn't go in. The food was decent. We had a fish and chips and lamb chops with mushroom sauce. Some complaints about the food: the fries and the mashed potatoes were cold. Mashed potatoes also tasted like the instant just-add-water type that you get at the store. Lamb was chewy but to be fair, lamb chops aren't easy to cook. Finally, the parking. What other reviewers have said is true parking is extremely limited. It doesn't have a parking lot, so patrons have to make do with alternative parking areas like the Stutong market next door or the residential street behind Le Parlour. City council recently built a walking path around the whole block, though, so that's nice.
Good place to do small group seminar , meeting ,have western meal or snack and drinks here. You may browse and read the books on the shelf.? Or have a quiet peacful meeting or dating here. It is s big mansion renovated into cafe and meeting but still keep the ambiance.. I like the colonial style wooden stairs and floorings. This place definitely quiet n peaceful. There is a small room upstairs which may convert to meeting or seminar room for about 10 pax.
We came during lunch time and had an assortment of finger food, salad and cake. The smoked duck salad was different and delicious. Try the crepe and matcha cheese cake. Service was good and tons of pre-loved books to browse through. Prices of the books and food are quite affordable.
The fries taste unique and the food portion is just right but it is difficult to park there during weekday
This restaurant is perfect for families with children. Kids can enjoy reading the books available here, with over 1000 titles catering to different age groups. The food is delicious and I highly recommend this place. I personally love it.
