Tomo Japanese - Knoxville

I happened to find this restaurant while searching for a bento box and was pleasantly surprised to discover their incredible sushi. I ordered a rice bowl with the chef's choice of fish, and I was delighted to receive a fantastic Hawaiian Tuna that simply melted in my mouth. I also tried two Saba Nigiri for dessert, which were excellent. A few days later, I brought my family back, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a great selection of beer and plenty of sake options, though they keep running out of my favorite, Big Sapporo. We'll definitely be returning!

Many people rave about Nama, but in my opinion, Tomo offers the best sushi in Knoxville at this price range. There's no need to pay more for the same quality fish elsewhere. They have fantastic specials throughout the week and are open late on weekends. The staff is friendly, and the menu features a solid selection of traditional Japanese dishes. I think all entrees are made to order, so take your time and enjoy the experience! Highly recommended.

The rice? It's anything but ordinary—it's the best rice I've ever tasted! The grains are uniquely oval and possess a perfectly sticky and chewy texture—not too wet and not too dry—holding together beautifully for dipping in the lovely, light tempura sauce. The atmosphere is inviting, with cool, dark colors and a soothing ambiance. You can opt for a seat by the front window to watch the world outside, or retreat into a cozy private booth at the back. The restrooms are clean and pleasantly scented. The service was laid-back yet quick and friendly. This spot has become one of my favorite lunch destinations in Knoxville! By the way, they also offer amazing sushi—this was Knoxville’s very first sushi restaurant, long before others arrived in town. While I no longer eat fish, if you do, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Finally made it to Tomo after hearing several great recommendations. We very much enjoyed the traditional seating that was available, and the sushi was excellent! We were very happy with the variety of selection compared to other sushi restaurants we have been to in Knoxville. Prices were also much more reasonable for what you get in comparison to some! The staff was friendly and attentive, overall a great experience! Highly recommended.

Always great service! This has become a place I frequent. The food is wonderful and the people are great. Id recommend it, highly.
