However, I was highly disappointed with the quality and taste. It was bland and very watery. While I definitely do not recommend the guac, the staff was great; friendly, charismatic, professional, and helpful.
The staff at Tako Taco are its biggest asset, especially the bartender. Their drinks have a creative flourish with the flavor profiles to back it up. We found the food, though, to be just ok. We've tried all their tacos, and the only one worth ordering is the chopped roaster pig because of the spicy honey mustard sauce. Otherwise, their meat is bland and their flavor combinations are unremarkable. The tako taco is novel, but we wouldn't order it again, and we advise steering clear of the shrimp tacos. The queso with the crispy corn tortillas is definitely worth ordering; we actually went back the second time only because I had a craving for it. Barring another random craving, however, I can't guarantee we'd go back unless they revamped their menu. There are too many truly good places in downtown Knoxville to go back to somewhere just ok.
Right next to the venue for a concert we went to see. Easily walkable, nice atmosphere, tasty food, and incredibly fast service. I would definitely eat here again. We also got a delicious mocktail called the Dratini that I'd highly recommend. :)Food: 5/5
Very unique, unbelievably good food. The fried rice special with octopus is amazing, I would have never expected all of those flavors together, but it works perfectly!Food: 5/5
Not at all impressed with the food. The guacamole had zero flavor. The break your own tortilla chips was really messy. I guess it would be fun for kids. Used to getting at least chips and salsa as you wait. No salsa, just some unlabeled and dirty bottles of what looked like taco sauce. Our group tried an assortment of tacos, taquitos, and the empanadas. The portions are very small, more like appetizers and I'm not a big eater. The tacos come with a very thick blue corn tortilla. Honestly very hard to chew and swallow, they were so dry, thick, and barely cooked. Frying the shells would have made it so much easier to eat and would've added a little flavor. The meats were not seasoned hardly at all octopus, pork, chicken were dry. The only taco that was remotely tasty was the shrimp. 3 chicken taquitos were just your average chicken and cheese, nothing special.Service was just okay. Order came out fairly quickly. Had to ask for waters to be refilled. One person's tacos came out on someone else's plate and we had to separate them. Didn't understand how we wanted the check split up. Not a place that I would recommend.Vegetarian options: Offer vegetarian options. Easy to make some dishes vegan.Dietary restrictions: Mexican food is typically the easiest cuisine to find GF options.
