The spinach ravioli was swimming in a very tart tomato sauce. While the floor staff were apologetic it wasn’t their fault. The kitchen needs to improve.
Came here bang on 6pm without a booking and got the only unreserved table. During the evening, tables turned over pretty quickly so must be a local favourite. Food is simple and fuss free, but very tasty and quickly prepared and served. We tried a variety of pastas, veal saltimbocca and a margerita pizza. Of the pastas, the only let down was the gnocchi which was extremely mushy and watery, although the sauce was nice. The veal was excellent as was the pizza. Can definitely recommend.
La Dolce Vita is a quirky little restaurant. The decor consists of full size concrete statues placed around restaurant, concrete replicas of Roman artefacts coupled with a Vespa scooter at the entrance and one ceramic pitcher wit fake flowers on a shelf. All that is missing are pictures of Audrey Hepburn from scenes in Roman Holiday. I actually liked the overall oddness as it gave the restaurant a Italian/homely feel. The staff are young and friendly. The food solid and tasty. I’d recommend the home made ravioli very delicious. The mixed salad was very tasty well done on getting the dressing right. My son had a Carbonara and he said it was very good. The Capricciosa pizza has a good mix of Anchovy , artichokes and ham underpinned by a tasty tomato base. The cafe is byo and reasonable corkage. If you want a wholesome Italian standard feed for a reasonable price this is a great little cafe. Salotto and Di Molto are excellent but you pay more and they’re sometimes harder to book.
I missed going to La Dolce Vita, since the hailstorms in Canberra early last year and then COVID-19.....they had to close..... Decided to go there tonight. Called at 11am today for a 7pm booking ..even though they were closed, the owner called to confirm my booking request. The food and service was still the same as the last time I was there.....Awesome !!! Highly recommend
Perfect simple Italian Food. What a little gem. The night we went was prior to Christmas and although clearly understaffed they still did an amazing job! The one waitress was working so fast..she was a miracle to watch. Organised, ordered and non flustered. The prawn pizza with chilli was great and all pasta dishes fresh, fantastic, home made, and just the right size!! Not to big, so they could be enjoyed with a pizza or entree. The tables were spaced well for Covid safe practice, with QR code and santitizer at the front door. The food was simple, the menu small, but everything served for all 7 of us was perfect. Great service too. The only negative is that this place is HOT. Could not see air conditioning and the industrial fan was not on the night we went. Other than that everything else was great. Highly recommend this place in the heart of Kingston ACT.
