This local charcoal chicken restaurant is very decent. The chicken, chips and gravy are great and the staff are nice. I highly recommend trying the round chicken.
I have always held this takeaway in high regard. We lived close by 20 years ago & once a week was BBQ chicken night. Such amazing service and the chickens were fantastic. A few years later we moved closer to the city but would venture out on the odd occasion just to get the chicken. The staff remembered us! It's probably over 2 years since we've been as we've been O/S. The staff are still so friendly & food fantastic. Kingsgrove high street is changing since Woolworths arrived. The liquor shop & Deli have closed. Don't let this amazing family run business suffer the same fate.
This was the worst looking and worst quality meal I have ever eaten! The chicken burger bun was burnt to charcoal and the chicken was chewy and raw. Absolutely disgusting food. It's no wonder they make you pay before the food comes.
I had a 15-minute stopover at 4pm on a Saturday waiting for trains and wanted something fast. So many eateries open, but most were empty, so I had no indication of which were popular or not. Although generally 4pm is not a busy time. There were 2 chicken places, 2 seafood places, an Indian place, several unappetising bakeries, a pretentious looking (translation: expensive looking) souvlaki place called Kefi, and Melthouse pizza which looked the best of the bunch but I didn't have 10-15 minutes' cooking time to wait. I picked this chicken place at random.I went for the half chicken and chips. The guy popped the chips in the fryer for 2 minutes so they came out hot but soggy. I should've asked for another few minutes but I admit I was hungry and didn't want to wait, but in hindsight should have. The meat around the leg was okay, but the rest of the meat was dry and very stringy. I got a sprinkling of salt, and I asked the rest of it to be smothered in gravy but I don't know why I bothered as it had no flavour.I got through just over half of it and binned it. Which brings me to the question: are there any decent places in Kingsgrove to get a meal within 5 or 10 minutes?
