Montana's BBQ & Bar - Kimberley

Food was okay, the menu is small. I found the place kind of weird in general to be honest. Would go back but wouldn't go outta my way to go there!

Food is average. Somewhat overpriced but not to bad. Beers are pretty expensive but normal ski hil prices. Staff was excellent and friendly.

I've eaten at Montana's establishments in Calgary but this version of the chain, located in Kimberley, seriously needs a new kitchen manager/executive chef. First off, I have to give the two lovely young ladies who served us five stars. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be a waitress in an empty restaurant on a Friday night and have to tell patrons that many items on the "limited" menu (as compared to the menu offerings at Montana's in Calgary) were not available. No baked potatoes, no sweet potato fries, no salmon, no 10oz steak, no antijoles, and the only red wine available was a cheap Merlot by the glass. Hubby ordered the 7oz filet which was cooked med. rare but looked more like a strip loin than a filet. I had the pulled pork sandwich with waffle fries. The pulled pork was very dry and could have used more bbq sauce. It did have a nice smoky flavour though. The waffle fries were very tough and chewy. I've eaten at this restaurant several times in the past but after this most recent disappointing visit, felt compelled to write a review and warn others that Kimberley has several terrific little restaurants...sadly Montana's is not one of them. The only good thing about it is that is is conveniently located inside Trickle Creek Lodge, at the base of the ski hill and if you are staying on-hill, it is the only restaurant within walking distance.

The restaurant is right next to Trickle Creek Lodge so it was convenient to go there our first night after a long drive. I agree with other reviews, the food is ok, the ribs we had were nice, but l would consider their prices expensive for what you get. The server was friendly enough, but choices were limited. I would not go there again.

My wife ordered the ribs and I got the 10 oz. Petite filet. The ribs were amazing and my steak was cooked perfectly. It's a great spot to dine, with reasonable prices. The staff were attentive and gave us great service. Thank you, Montana's!
