Lucky Garden - Kimberley

We came back this year hoping that the food and service was as good as it was last year. We were not disappointed. The inside of the restaurant may not be very fancy, but the food more than makes up for it. If you are thinking of Chinese food and in the Kimberley area, I definitely recommend this restaurant.

It has been a long time since I've been to this restaurant, as my past few visits were very poor. I went to the other Chinese food place and they were out of won ton soup (again), so I decided to head up to the platzl. The new owners have definitely stepped up and made some great changes. They were very polite, patient and I could tell, were eager to make a good impression. I ordered several dishes. The rice was the best I've ever had, and the won ton soup was considerably better than their competitor, (who has very good soup). Based on the superior customer service and even better food, this is my new go to Chinese take away.

Owned and operated by very friendly people. The variety is good and the food has a good taste and is not greasy. They do take out as well.

We have been going there for a number of years and consider them the best Oriental food in the East Kootney area. Very clean, nicely decorated and the service is great. Food is always hot when it arrives. All their food is prepared freshly everyday with daily fresh vegetables and meat. I would highly recommend the Butterfly Gardens as we have never been disappointed

We visited the Butterfly Gardens last night for supper. We weren't thinking Chinese for our holidays, but are we glad we did. We were greeted warmly at the door, and taken to a table that gave us a good view of the platzel. The restaurant was very clean and looked as it had been recently painted. Upon ordering, we could here everything being made in the back, and knew then that we would be getting freshly made food. The food didn't come all at once but over a period of 3-5 minutes. This was because the food was being prepared fresh. Everything we chose was excellent, and they put a spin on some things that really work. As an example, the the sweet and sour pork had no pineapples. I asked about this, and our waiter said there is pineapple juice in the sauce. They do this because many people have a problem with the acid from eating the pineapples, but the juice doesn't cause that problem. Portions were large and everything was hot and delicious. If you are looking at maybe trying something other than snitzel, or sitting in a loud "yuppie" type of restaurant, this is an excellent option.
