Food: normal and basic, a little pricey for what you get compared to other local cafes we experienced. The malasadas were good. Location: centrally located in a plaza, place is small with indoor and outdoor seating. Service: they seem to be a husband/wife team and run a busy establishment. They aren’t warm and friendly but they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off taking care of everyone and thing. For this I give them props hustling to make it work. If they had help it might run smoother. Gave 4 stars because we ate all our food, they were busy but not rude and even though they were super busy the food didn’t take forever for us. We ate here twice while visiting Kihei.
Small hard working mom and pop! Slow down as it make take a little bit of time to get your food. Relax, you’re on Hawaii time! Place is super busy in the am. Had the “A” super common breakfast dish one day and it was great. And lunch the next day Shoyu Chicken. I love the flavor, but would have liked to have some veggies with the chicken. Wanted to try some of the fish dishes but they weren’t available.
If you are on Maui you must go here. If for nothing else than the fresh malasadas (Hawaiian doughnuts). Order them and wait 15 minutes as they are made fresh. To die for.
I had never eaten Spam before and I'm so glad I had it here for my first time. My breakfast was simple. However, simple doesn't mean basic or boring. The Spam was seasoned perfectly. My toast was buttered and I could tell they put the butter on before they toasted which is the best way to do it. My food was served on a paper plate and I used plastic utensils. I don't like either on those things but I didn't even care. When the food is good, you don't focus on those things. I will definitely eat here again before I go home. This is a local spot with nothing flashy at all about it. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot and one you should absolutely visit. I also had a Portuguese donut (I can't remember the name) but it was hot, doughy, and covered in powered sugar. Scrumptious!
