Karlínská Pivnice

This is so far the best Czech restaurace I've been in Prague. Great Czech food, the best pork knee (koleno in Prague so far, really delicious traditional Czech duck on Sunday menu. They serve one of the best Pilsen Urquell in town and... can you believe, also a perfect coffe (let me say, as an Italian expat, this is one of the few places where I appreciate coffee . Eventually, you can also find out that Czech waiters can smile :

I live and work not far away from Karlínská pivnice. Lunch preparation starts with checking the menu over here. Friends call it my extended living room. Staff used to be always the same, but as new staff comes in, everybody is friendly and helpful. I don't know how the cook does it but he is able to produce quality food every day. I love the place.

Three things to rate as 'the best ' in Prague when Czech cuisine is in question. Their Pilsner beer, the pork knuckle and the Sunday lunch duck. But then there is their steak tartare, the fried cheese, the kulajda soup...... certainly a place to try!

Mam rada dobre pivo a v tehle restauraco mi vadi ze toci podmiraky ktere nazyvaji hladinkou. Pecene koleno je dobre, ale jednou nam bohuzel pristala na stole 3 spalena kolena. a to zrovna kdyz jsme pozvali kamarada. To by vubec kuchar nemel vypustit z kuchyne! Personal nam jen odvetil ze se omlouva a vic to neresil. Zrejme jim to prijde normalni. Pri obe jsme pro zmenu zase dostali jehneci se spenatem ktere misto vypekem bylo polite olejem ve kterem knedliky doslova plavaly. Takze za nas uz asi nikdy vice.
