Dear the Rose Customer service needs to be majorly improved. The young woman who was supposed to greet us when we entered, did not. She then lost interest when we asked if a happy hour existed. We asked about getting drinks and sitting in the patio, she said, we would have to go to the bar order our drinks and take them to the patio which was bathed in full sun. We noted another area which had shade, she replied the area was for full dining service only. At the bar area, we still had to order our drinks and take them to a long table just next to the bar. No bar service even in the bar area! One person at the bar was unable to make drinks as he was only a bar back. Where was the bartender!? Note: the place was NOT full! We decided to get a snack yet no one seemed to know or be interested in taking our order! Finally one of us chased a person down to order. We enjoyed our drinks! The chicken liver mousse was delicious! Except for one young man with braids who said welcome and the gentleman who brought us our snack no one else was friendly, seemed to care or be informative. It has been years since I've visited The Rose. I truly enjoyed it when it was more neighborly. The experience we had, did not encourage me to recommend it.
We were immediately greeted and wel- comed by the host who made it a point to greet us by name. Our waiters were friendly and attentive as were the other service staff. The food was excellant and portions generous. We went 2 days in a row once for lunch then for brunch. Both the same great experience. We look forward to going again soon. A great find.
I have not been there since the menu was updated...so I used Dine LA as a good excuse. Although the menu was paired down from what I remembered , the choices were varied. I chose the Dine LA menu. The Cesar Kale salad was delish, and the Scottish salmon superb. Both were adequate portions, especially for the fixed price menu! And the desert...well, tres leches Bundt was absolutley delicious....need I say more.....?
We went for Dine LA and had their 3 course lunch. The salad was fresh and the salmon was cooked perfectly. We loved the coconut curry with it! The thres leches cake was amazing and a little crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. All the dishes were very flavorful. The patio is very nice and I am looking forward to coming back again soon!
