Helen's Pizza - Jersey City

Very mean customer service! My mother called to place an order for delivery yesterday and the man on the line was very rude and impatient and yelling at her. At the end of the call she said he called her a malaka? and hung up, apparently it’s a Greek curse word. Just ridiculous. Delivery was slow, too. Never again!

As someone who grew up in Jersey City in the 90s and 00s, I came here looking for an ole fashioned Jersey City style slice, and was not disappointed! Delicious pizza, with the cheese perfectly melty. Bonus, the garlic knots were also very good. I hope Helen 's stays open for a long, long time but given that it is surrounded by the The Gentrifiers (Tm) up and down Newark Ave., I am cynical about its prospects to withstand the onslaught of more hip hipster? pizza places in the area. In the meantime, I will frequent Helen 's and support its business while its still around.

White pizza (8/10), margherita (8/10 I like the tomato sauce, the mozzarella and basil) and Valentino (8/10, the cheese at the bottom is really tasty). The crust is soft. lasagna, hawaiian greek, special pizzas are just fine. The service needs some improvement.Food: 4/5

Customer service is horrible! Pizza just as bad. Not sure what is going on here. Avoid this place like the plague.
