Pollo Tropical - Jacksonville

Always delicious! If you're unsure about what to order, I recommend the quarter chicken—either dark or white—with black beans and rice, along with a small order of fried plantains and a drink. They used to have a self-serve salsa and spice bar, but now you just need to ask, and they'll provide you with some in a container. They also used to offer self-service drinks, but that's no longer the case. I'm not certain about free refills since I didn't get a second drink, but I can understand why they made these changes due to COVID and the mess some customers created while drinking without paying. I moved away over ten years ago and really miss this restaurant chain, which isn't available in North Carolina. I still remember when they opened their first location in South Miami-Dade County, before Hurricane Andrew. It's still so delicious!

The food was enjoyable, and the staff were friendly. However, after we finished our meal, an unpleasant experience occurred. At around 3:00 AM, we all fell ill. It lasted for about 12-14 hours. While I can't definitively say it was from our dinner, it's the only meal we all shared together. I believe I'm finished with this restaurant.

If I could rate this order, I would give it a low score. They mistakenly provided grilled chicken instead of crispy chicken, and although I didn't ask for cheese, they added it anyway. I've ordered this salad before, and it was nothing like what I received this time; there weren't even any tomatoes, and the flavor was disappointing. Additionally, they didn't include any forks or napkins, and the portions were small, with not much beans and just a little rice. The bag was messy with beans spilling out. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

Delicious food as usual, although we were late in the evening, what would explain why I got some of the chicken scraps in my meal, as well as just a little razor that usually down to the bottom of the chicken stall. But the meal was just as delicious as me? ve ever had it

I work nearby this restaurant and this was my place to go get lunch everyday. 6 years plus loyal customer. Unfortunately, management decided to make each of their popular entrees, wraps and sandwiches individual items so that you have to buy side and drink separately. Which of course makes Pollo Tropical as pricey as a higher end restaurant. Cannot get anything under $10. Definitely they have just lose another loyal frequent customer forever or until they can make their menu affordable. PS: Came today 06/24/22 to get a Tropichop bowl that had a long hair entangled with the tomatoes ????
